Crystal Solstice + Eclipse Magic: The Descent of the Sacred Warrior
I experienced a powerful download yesterday. I was in my garden with my sceptre quartz, tuning into the energies of the solstice and the upcoming new moon in cancer + solar eclipse. What I received was an insight into the archetypal cycles, nature, and stories of humanity, and how they’re playing out now on a cosmic scale.
The new moon solar eclipse at the time of the summer solstice represents a powerful interplay between the energies of the moon and the sun. Of polarities.
The new moon in Cancer, water sign ruled by the moon, eclipsing the sun on the day of the summer solstice, when (in the northern hemisphere) the sun has waxed to its fullest potential.
The longest day and the shortest night. Fire / water. Light / dark. Radiance / shadow. The sacred masculine / the sacred feminine.
All merging as one in the moment when the moon eclipses the sun. The symbol of sacred darkness, feminine, night, shadow eclipsing the light.
What does this mean? What are Nature and the Cosmos, Gaia and Kronos, saying to us at this time of great upheaval in our world?
That it is time to stop resisting what is separate within ourselves. It’s time to bring the light into the darkness.
It is time for the Descent.
The Descent
We commonly fear what we cannot see or understand, and seek to keep it separate from ourselves, but the Descent forces us to journey through hidden or scary places in order to move forward on our paths, our stories, our evolution.
In all great stories, myths, legends, it is the Descent that makes the hero wise, frees the captive, gives way to rebirth, allows the goddess to return home.
These stories date back to ancient times, and cycle through numerous different cultures and religions. Prominent examples are the story of Odysseus, who on his 10-year journey home from the Trojan war, must travel to the underworld and receive a great prophecy before returning home. Odin, the All-Father in Norse mythology, who hangs himself from the great tree Yggdrasil for 9 days in order to receive the wisdom of the runes. And the Sumerian goddess Ishtar/Inana’s descent through the 7 gates of hell in search of power, ultimately negotiating her release to the living world through the sacrifice of her husband, Tammuz.
Interestingly enough, Ishtar is associated with the planet Venus, which at the end of June is also nearing the end of its descent before disappearing from view entirely, re-emerging as the “evening star” in August.
It all lines up.
The Message
From a birds-eye-view and from an archetypal perspective, we are collectively being ushered into our Descent. It often means facing our deepest fears, and represents an ending of things or a symbolic death. But in turn it grants us healing and gains us great wisdom, and is necessary to our evolution or the story of our path.
Remember that the difference between knowledge and wisdom is that wisdom can only be earned from experience, and healing can only happen when we’re willing to go through the process.
Being willing to go through our descent allows us to embody that healing and wisdom, and it’s the embodiment that transforms us.
In more practical healing terms (and depending on your own culture, system of belief, or heritage), we are being called to do shadow self healing, clearing ancestral lines and wounding, and past-life or karmic work, in order to transform into higher versions of ourselves and to create a better world.
Individually, and where possible, collectively.
The Descent fundamentally changes us. We see our lives, our selves, our world differently from before. We can no longer exist as we were. Change is inevitable, because it has already happened. The story continues to unfold. We return home, but we can never go back to how we were before, who we were before, and live the way we were before.
And in this case, I’m hoping that’s a good thing.
The Crystals
These are the crystal beings who called out to me most in this current process of descending and becoming. Choose to work with whichever one(s) most resonate or call out to you.
The recommended way to work with them for this purpose is to do so with conscious intention, so either in meditation, journey work, journaling, or art therapy.
Know that they will help provide you with the guidance, insight, courage, and healing energy you need to bring light into your own inner darkness, mystery, underworld.
Know that they won’t do the work for you, but as pure sources of nature energy, cosmic frequency, and connectors to Universal wisdom, they can be the totem, guide, or spirit medicine you need through this process.
Know, also, that you’re not an island alone - get additional healing, therapy, or medical support from professionals when needed.

The Transition to Sacred Warrior
As healers and spiritual beings who are walking the path of mastery, to embrace and willingly move through the Descent is a powerful, courageous, and life-changing choice.
It enables us to transition from the wounded self to the sacred warrior - the one who has faced the darkness, healed, survived, and come through to the other side with greater wisdom and grace to guide others.
The wounds have healed, but the scars and memories remain as part of the story. They cannot be forgotten, as they’re a remnant of the lessons learned that cannot be unlearned, and the healing that freed us from past sufferings.
Forever changed, we are far closer to who we were meant to be.
And like Venus in August, we rise once more, radiant in the night sky. A light shining in the darkness.
Blessings be.

One of the many wonders of the spiritual path are those deep, mystical, spiritual experiences we sometimes have in meditation, ritual, or nature that changes our lives.
But Spirit is potent medicine, and sometimes after experiencing the wonders, forces, or touch of Creation, we’re left in a post-exhilaration slump that I call “the spiritual anti-climax”…
