Natural Ways to Manage Anxiety
Hello everyone! As many of you know I recently made a big move in location and also a big transition in my work, shifting focus from healing work to providing guidance through Akashic Record readings, writing & teaching. So far I've been very happy and excited with the changes I've been making, but let's face it: It's also been a LOT to adjust to, and right at a time of shifting seasons, solar eclipses, and the thinning of the veils & altering of time with Samhain (pronounced 'Sah-win') approaching on the 31st.
As a result I've had bouts of anxiety and self-doubt issues surface - old emotional energy and cobwebs clearing away in order to make room for the new. I welcome this healing, but healing as many of you know is not always a comfortable process! As such, I've had to put my own skills and knowledge to use in order to manage this in a way that I felt was loving & empowered, and knowing that we all go through these times (and many of you may be right now), I wanted to share some of these techniques:
- Exercise. Whenever the feelings start to well up or the thoughts won't stop, get up, go out for a walk, hop onto the treadmill, put on some favorite music and dance, get on your yoga mat - whatever form of vigorous movement that appeals to you. Exercise helps to clear this energy from your body, get you out of your head, and there's the added warm afterbuzz of having done something healthy for yourself.
- Crystals. Grab hold of any blue crystal (especially for anxiety), or any pink crystal (especially for self-worth issues) you might own, and pair it with a piece of black tourmaline (which neutralizes imbalanced energy). It's best to hold them in your hands and breathe, bringing your awareness to the energy flowing through you and remaining open to receive. You should start to feel a shift in as little as 5 minutes, though you may need to hold them for up to an hour depending on your needs. You'll know when it's time to put them down.
- Journaling. While anxiety feels emotional, it's actually mental - there is an underlying belief stemming from fear that is provoking an emotional reaction in your system. Journaling helps to clear mental energy, and will allow yourself to really pay attention to what's going on underneath the feelings. With clarity comes greater confidence and understanding.
- Take action. If you allow yourself to just stop and become overwhelmed with the feelings, you'll start spinning until you're spiraling down. Instead ask yourself 'What is something that I can do right now to improve my situation?'. If you can do something to help address the underlying cause of your anxiety, then do it! But even if you can't, you could wash the dishes, do a load of laundry, play with the dog, clear out some clutter, make dinner, do that thing or call that person that you've been meaning to... Action is empowering, creates a sense of moving forward and purpose, and any act of self-care is always a loving gestures towards yourself.
Remember, anxiety is just mental energy, and your feelings are just a reaction to it - it is not a reflection of you, your life, your worth, your relevancy. It's just energy, and energy moves - move it in a direction that is loving, empowering, and useful to you, and then that energy becomes an ally instead of a beast of burden.
Love and blessings to you all! :)
